Ginger for the cold?

The specific taste of ginger is appreciated not only in the culinary arts! The valuable effects of the ingredients contained in this plant prove to be an effective ally in the fight against various ailments. Is it worth using ginger for the cold?

Ginger for the cold. Properties

Ginger is a plant that occurs primarily in Asia, India, Africa and South America. The people there have been using the valuable properties of ginger for the cold and in cases of a general decrease in immunity. Its root is a rich source of many active ingredients, which will work well in the fight against harmful microorganisms.

The use of ginger in the daily diet and supplementation is conditioned by the presence of gingerols - an active substance which determines the spice's sharp taste. Nutrition experts attribute to them an extremely valuable influence in preventing inflammatory changes that may occur during the cold. The warming properties of the plant, on the other hand, will be valuable in increasing perspiration, which can help to combat fever and chills. It is also worth adding that gingerols support the fight against free oxygen radicals and may help to reduce the adverse effects of oxidative stress. Moreover, ginger is recommended in the case of infections with increased phlegm production, as it is attributed with properties that dry the exaggeratedly produced lung secretions.
