The mentioned proanthocyanidins, together with carotene and vitamins, have an extremely valuable antioxidant effect, which makes it possible to combat free oxygen radicals.

 

What's more, cranberries can help lower the pH of the urine and thus reduce the chance of dangerous bacteria multiplying (e.g. in the case of bladder infections). Doctors and nutritionists are keen to take advantage of this plant's properties to reduce the risk of kidney stones, among other things. In turn, its diuretic properties are an extremely valuable way of cleansing the urinary tract, which is extremely healthful in cases of urinary incontinence, prostate hypertrophy, or in people with catheters.
