Another victory for Karol Basz

Karol Basz, ambassador for Olimp Sport Nutrition, did excellently in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe once again. After Saturday's bad luck, Sunday saw the Pole, together with the Italian Vito Postiglione, leaving behind their rivals competing in Misano.

When qualifying for the race, the Polish-Italian duo showed that they would still be key contestants in the fight for the greatest trophies. Our drivers started from P1 for Saturday's race, while on Sunday they started from P2.

Theoretically, the Saturday should be better but Karol Basz and Vito Postiglione have been rather unlucky. - Unfortunately, something strange happened at the very start. Both us and the team starting next to us stayed in place while the others appeared to have committed a false start. Later, one of the tyres slid off the rim, which made Vito go out of track at over 200 km/h. Fortunately, there was no serious damage to the car – Karol Basz later explained.

On Saturday, our drivers' spirits were decidedly down. On Sunday, however, the mood improved. This time the race was started by the Cracovian who, going from the second pole, kept it after setting off. He maintained a leader's pace all the time, moving away from the rest of the competition.

At the swap, the ambassador for Olimp Sport Nutrition was among the first drivers to start – and this turned out to be a key move in the race. When he returned to the track, Postiglione (Italy) managed to further shorten the distance to the leader and take the lead after a spectacular overtaking manoeuvre, just after completing the obligatory pit stops.

However, it was not easy to keep the leadership up to the finish line, because behind Postiglione there was Daniel Zampieri, the driver who has a history of competing in GP2. On his track, however, Vito was second to none and the Polish-Italian team reached for the third consecutive victory!

The Basz-Postiglione team is currently second in the general classification, only three points behind the leaders. The next round will take place on July 27–28 on the Spa-Francorchamps track.

- The race kept us on the edge of our seats until the very end, because although I know how fast Vito is, Zampieri is certainly not an easy opponent. In the end, we managed to maintain the right distance and reach for the third victory this season. Vito gave a fantastic performance, the team prepared a great car and I think we all made up for Saturday's problems – Basz commented.

Lamborghini Super Trofeo is the fastest one-make cup in the world organized by the Lamborghini brand. During the weekend, two 50-minute races are held, during which the drivers swap behind the wheel halfway. Almost 50 identical Super Trofeo EVO Huracans were announced for participation.

Karol Basz is racing for Imperiale Racing – an award-winning Italian team that in previous years won titles at Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe. His team mate is Vito Postiglione of Italy, who last year classified third in the general cup classification.
